Hey, hey...it was actually hot today! Perfect for getting those new flowers into the rock garden. Jon separated some that came back really too big, and then we filled in. WORMS!!! ooooooooooer! But I know they mean the soil is good. So finished up there and walked to a local restaurant. Ever read Pluggers in the comics? Well it was that sort of place! But we ate well enough, knocked off the crossword, then went for a walk...which is where we saw these granddaddy sized DEEP orange poppies. Just gorgeous george!
Jon had thought I was going to the Plough with him, as some friends had been asking, but I fudged and stayed home and played. And ordered new courses needed for yearly certification & licensing. Should be here soon and I shall be with my nose in a book for a while. This means not much time for flickring, but gotta do it!
Grilling steaks out tonite and a nice salad of goodies to top it off.
Rented Local Hero last night, recommended by BigAl. Hope to go to the coast next time I am off...soak up some delicious sunshine.
Cheers all! Oh...and check out poetry zone...look for Roger Stevens new CD called Wonky Finger! Order...you'll love it if you like funky make-you-smile music!

Slogging along the rain soaked path...because it stopped for 5 minutes. Grabbed the freakin' camera cuz I didn't really believe...ahhhhh
Colour! Felt sure these had been wind-blasted, torpedoed to the neighbors! But, the most fragile of all held steady.
So...I've got Wonky Finger, by Roger Stevens, on the way. His last CD was great fun...and this one surpasses, I'm sure!
Listenin' to Ian Drury. Knock, knock...the postman has a wee packet. Now why didn't he just poke it thru the slitslatbingbat?! Think he's getting an attachtment to some of the mailart eccentricites! From Sweden, Tennessee, UK today...packets holding jewels...well, the equivalent, I say. And Snapatorium/Swapatorium sent Betty Boop dollies & lunchboxes, Popeye...and a painting you'll see somewhere.
I say...you are welcome to spend the weekend at my place in Montreuse...take the helicopter...but remember you phased out the pilot.
Ta all...what a day.

Jon playing

Ya know, sometimes it works out right. Our friend stayed over...in from the Berkshires. And soon off to Brazil and Colombia. Always a treat...and you know there is gonna be singing. No sooner than the dinner plates are toted off the guys are at it and I, with trusty camera in hand, settle in. Stories start...our friend will be acting as interpretor for tribal rituals, of which he has been welcomed and initiated by locals in these exotic if troubled countries. Rick blogs and he's under "junglejerk"...eventually there will be pictorial and dialogue of his fascinating journies. Check it out sometime. But stories lead to music and that's the way the nite ended. As you can see under comments from this pic, Jon eventually took the guitar. You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go". Great song on it's own but he sings it the way it should be. Finally I have to leave it to them...work at 5AM tomorrow. Later, trip to the nursery for fill-ins in the garden. Then to Concord for sausage cooked in Cognac...for dinner. Then off to see Jon's mum for her birthday. The Mother is all akilter from massive work being done on the house. But she's cool...didn't raise this lively family without knowing how to handle the next "emergency". Time to leave...raining yet again...arrrrgh. Decided we wanted Pork Pies for dinner instead. Well, sorry...we drove every where...CLOSED. Decided what the heck...Armenian would do. So beamed in on an old Armenian store and later feasted on stuffed grapeleaves, hummus, eggplant, and the equivalent of little meat pies. Unloaded and unloaded the car. Why do we alway end up with twice as much as we left with. Later, watched a few Britcoms...Keeping Up Appearances...Are You Being Served? Never tire of the humour there. Getting late...Listening to Warron Zevon. So much left to do. But isn't that the way it is? Tomorrow, rain or shine, I need to...well, you know how it is! Til then...wherever you are...stay safe. We need you 'round.

Bleeding Hearts

Bleeding Hearts

So, today was one of wonderful breezy days. Decided to check out the garden here first, and the bleeding hearts were bloody near down to the grown they were so loaded! Guess they like their spot, right under the lilac tree. Lilacs are just breaking out...oh lovely scent so opened up the windows hoping to fill the house with their fragrance. Unfortunately, the poor old Sue (corgi) beat 'em out. Walked around a bit, snapping pictures...actually had a man who came up telling me where all the best flowers were. I love this neighborhood. Jon was through with errands about then so bopped over to our favorite Japanese soup restaurant. These people are yummy good and always busy, so while waiting I checked out the aquarium. WOW, blow-fish in there, about the size of a small wadded fist. Little guy had these big round eyes...kept following me around...and an almost human little mouth. Looked almost like it was talking to me...probably saying, "Beat it, Lady!". So, soups on...Miso Ramen for me. Bowl is practically the size of a washtub! No way to ever finish, but we read the local mags, leisure time, and manage to do some damage. Afterwards stopped to look at nearby Japanese grocer. Ummmm, octopi, anyone? Great packaging tho on candy. Colourful, cool stuff. Jon then decided to walk to the pub, and I ran errands...bought some sneakers which was like...what's going on here?! Have a skinny foot that seems to have had a growth spurt. I mean it may come down to wearing ski's!
Back home to hear from my flickr friend in UAE whose photos are amazingly stunning. Also, great to hear from Snapatorium aka Swapatorium. One classy lady who has more energy than your local nuclear power plant. Coincidence, since I had just posted her a card today.
Superstitious? Friday the 13th...oooooooo! Nah, it was a lovely day. Hope your luck held out too!
Wherever you are...it's more fun to boogie!

So, back here in Boston...weeding...up to my neck in the horrid things...well, that's what rain and more rain does. No, we are not having mud-slides...we are just sliding in the mud! Remember when May meant "HELLLOOOO Sunshine? Ha, got ya...you are a decrepit anthropod! Okay, okay...let's make that a "we" then! But enough about the confounding weather....There was a scare today...yep, some poor bloke meandered into Whitehouse airspace. Evacuation. Let's give him an "F" on piloting and an "A+" for surviving..lucky he wasn't shot down. Moral...if you are learning to fly, Washington isn't the place to read the crip sheets.
So...another night eases in, or out, depending on where you are...come on, be honest! Did you drink your prune juice?! We want you fit for the day!
Cheers, all.

Hello W2KR ATC

Hello W2KR ATC
Originally uploaded by Sylvia...Sometimes.
Well, hello out there, and today we have a fine show planned for you! What?!!! Someone has offed with me music! In truth, I don't know how to
put a music link on here...so hoping the great maestro Michael might throw something on!?
Was totally blown away to receive a self-portrait I had admired from mailartist, artist, and flickr-pal Art Nahpro! Took it to the framers yesterday so that it will be done justice and properly protected. Should have it in 3 weeks and will probably show here. Thank you, Paul...it is excellent!
Have been in touch with flickr friend Al...who recently left flickr. He is indeed ok, just needing to "get things under control". Very easy to spend the entire day chatting with people, checking out each others artwork and such. Have rather made a pact with myself to spend less time here and more time do something creative. Plus there is something immensely satisfying about grubbing around in the dirt, making things grow. Neighbors wild raspberries have rooted all along our fence and into the birds sunflower patch. Ohhhh, I do love those berries so me and the birds shall have to sort that out!
Jonathan spent last week down at the cape...looked out the window and there was this BIG fox in the yard! It was leary, but still stayed around to sun and be photographed. Surprised it let them get as close as he did. He was perfectly safe...no really strange rabies type behavior. Eventually he eased back to the wooded area.
Yesterday, Jon walked in with a gorgeous bouquet of yellow roses for me...cool surprise. Since it has been spewing rain the last few days, they add sunshine inside. Thank you, Sweetie-doo! Yes, I lapse into those little names around here...he only occasionally rolls his eyes!
Well, time to get going...W2KR signing off. Wherever you are, here's to you!
